Working Groups and Task Forces

The Alliance pursues four permanent work streams: 1) Standard setting and guidance development; 2) Capacity building, learning and development; 3) Evidence generation and knowledge management and 4) Advocacy. The four Working Groups correspond to the work streams and are reinforced by Task Forces that focus on specific, technical child protection issues.

Working Groups

  • The goal of this Working Group—co-led by ChildFund Alliance, Save the Children and Swatantrata Abhiyan Nepal—is to ensure that child protection in humanitarian settings is understood and prioritised by key humanitarian  agencies, existing and potential donors and states.

  • The AME Working Group, led by World Vision International and UNICEF Office of Research Innocenti, aims to support the sector in synthesis, generation and use of evidence in order to promote effective CP interventions.

  • The mission of the CPMS Working Group, co-led by Save the Children & UNICEF, is to support technical standard setting and to promote the use and integration of the CPMS while learning from their use and improving them.

  • The goal of the L&D Working Group, led by Plan International and UNICEF, is to ensure CPHA practitioners have access to and benefit from quality learning and development initiatives that promote the growth and sharing of competence.

Task Forces

  • This Task Force, led by the IRC and UNICEF, aims to improve child protection case management as part of child protection systems building. It provides technical support to field requests as well as guidance and training.

  • The aim of the CL Task Force, co-led by Plan International & ILO, is to ensure practical and technical coordination and collaboration to strengthen the quality and effectiveness of child labour preparedness, prevention and response actions in emergencies.

  • This task force, co-led by Plan International and UNICEF, aims to support and strengthen the capacities of field practitioners in programming for CAAFAG, including through development of technical resources and the set-up of a community of practice.

  • This Task Force is co-led by Plan International and World Vision International. The goal of the Task Force is to support implementing agencies and child protection actors to have the necessary tools, resources and capacity to implement in this area.

  • This Task Force, co-led by the Save the Children and War Child NL, aims to reduce family violence and improve parental wellbeing through technical support and guidance development.

  • This Task Force is currently led by the IRC and UNHCR, based on a rotational leadership. It aims at enhancing protection of unaccompanied and separated children in situations of conflict and natural disaster through strengthening and harmonising case management of UASC.
