Focal Points

The Alliance Focal Points focus on specific, strategic and critical areas for development concerning the child protection in humanitarian action sector.

Cash and Child Protection Focal Point

Mirette Bahgat and Elenora Mansi

The Cash and Child Protection Focal Point, led by the International Rescue Committee and World Vision International, seeks to document evidence on the impact and effectiveness of cash transfers on child protection outcomes in emergencies, their potential for greater use and impact, and their risks in order to improve policy and practice with respect to cash transfers and child protection in emergencies. 

CPHA-EiE Technical Focal Point

Rachel McKinney

Rachel joined as a consultant to support the Child Protection in Humanitarian Action and Education in Emergencies initiative and supporting the collaboration between The Alliance and INEE. Rachel has more than 20 years’ experience working in humanitarian responses, primarily in the education sector but with considerable overlap with child protection. After 14 years working across countries in South East Asia, Central Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and the Balkans, Rachel returned to the US and worked with Save the Children US for 10 years as Director for Education in Emergencies before becoming a consultant in 2017. During her time with SC, she was able to focus more on supporting ECCD in Emergencies, learning during crises, and a rapid return to learning during initial displacement. In addition to a global focus, Rachel is an adjunct lecturer in the US and her recent courses focus on support future teachers better understand social justice issues in US public education.

Prevention Focal Point

Susan Wisniewski

Susan Wisniewski joined as the Prevention Focal Point with the Alliance in May 2021. Susan has 19 years of experience in managing and providing quality support to child protection programming with NGOs in a variety of contexts within West and Central Africa, Asia, the Middle East and North America.  Her work has focused on strengthening community level prevention and response systems, child safeguarding, protection mainstreaming, the Child Protection Minimum Standards and Education in Emergencies.
